Development Lead for Category Hub

Salary to £50k DOE

ROLE PURPOSE:

To be the point contact for all development activities within the given hub/category. To lead the team effectively to develop new products which meet the needs of the business. To work collaboratively with other functions within the hub they support to ensure seamless support for the business.

KEY TASKS AND OBJECTIVES:

To be the technical expert in their given category, helping to use creativity and science to generate and execute project briefs based on consumer insight and with significant associated value for the business.
Lead a team of formulators and analysts to conduct their work in an efficient and compliant manner. Assist in technical problem solving (with appropriate support).
Ensure compliance with all company, regulatory, and health and safety procedures and guidelines.
Ensure their team are motivated and engaged. Work with individuals to implement tailored development plans, with regular performance reviews and coaching.
Be an active member of the Leadership Team, helping to prioritise and manage departmental objectives.
Manage and report the progress of key development projects within the given category/hub. Flag issues when they arise, ensuring transparency and candour.
With Head of R&D, ensure management to allocated budget.
With Head of R&D, ensure a level of flexibility within the team, with the ability to cover the needs of other development teams when required.
Stay abreast of the competitive landscape and latest developments in given area.
Assist Business Development with due diligence on new external opportunities when required.
