About Adam

Let’s rewind to 2005. In a tiny office in Wilmslow our founders Richard Gahagan and Leon Milns launched Adam with a vision to transform the perception of recruitment.

A focus on truly aligning our client’s business vision and culture with our candidates’ goals and values was core to the exceptional service standards we aspired to, as it is today.

We’ve worked hard over the past 14 years to create a company culture built on the principles of trust, collaboration, mutual respect and shared success. In that time the business has forged ahead by working with some of the most exciting companies in Manchester, the North West and London.  Companies such as Simply Be, On the Beach and Trak Global. From ground breaking tech firms to inspirational creative businesses, we’ve helped them all grow their businesses by building strong teams of highly talented and skilled professionals across a wide range of disciplines.

As we’ve grown the business, we’ve garnered a reputation for dealing fairly with clients, candidates and suppliers. We’ve won countless awards for our approach and are proud that 91% of our clients consider us their first choice for recruitment.

We’ve also weathered the storm of the biggest recession of our lifetime by operating with diligence and acting with integrity.  We Are Adam is living proof that doing the right thing pays off. You can read more about how we work in our case studies and testimonials.

Fast forward to 2019 and we’ve grown to a team of 20 consultants across five key business areas, Marketing & PR, Digital & Tech, HR, Agency and Executive, covering both permanent and contract roles. We’ve just had our best year ever, laying the foundations for our future growth.

Meet the Leadership Team

Ensuring our consultants have all the tools they need to provide our clients and candidates with the very best support as their recruitment partner of choice.  I’m the office Go-To and mother figure. If there’s something going on at Adam, I’m usually behind the scenes making it all happen!

Before joining the Manchester team, I worked as a recruitment consultant in the healthcare sector. I discovered that my strengths lay in a support role and combined with my background in retail management, running the offices here at Adam seemed like a natural progression.

Did you know?

I used to sing professionally in a tribute band, I’m an (occasional) fashion and lifestyle blogger and I spend my spare time doing just about anything that could be considered a creative past time!

Responsible for the growth strategy of the business, driving forward Adam as a partner of choice to our clients and candidates. To ensure Adam becomes one of the leading recruitment and talent brands in the UK and creating a great place to work ahead of its time in our industry.

My experience in recruitment

With over 17 years recruitment experience, I enjoy working with creative and hardworking people who are driven and want to make a difference to the world inside and outside of their working environment.

Graduate in Business Studies and worked in Sales & Marketing in industry before moving into the world of recruitment. I have always loved helping people find talent or their next career move, or just generally advising people on the best ways to manage their careers.

I love working with motivated people who like helping others.

In addition to my role as CEO of Adam, I am also a proud father of two young daughters and an Ambassador for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, the largest Children’s Hospital in the UK.

Outside of work life I love most sports having been an active player in rugby and football. I am a keen skier and like hill walking and mountain biking.

I love meeting new people particularly the ones who have made a difference in inspiring others or are just starting out on their own journey.

I like wine and travelling with family and friends and choose which sports I watch with how well (or badly) my teams are doing!

I waste no time when I see an opportunity to match client to candidate. I am direct, determined and care a great deal about what I do.

My experience in recruitment

Over 15 years experience.

My specialisms

HR Recruitment

I am the Co-Founder and Director of Adam’s HR Division. I graduated from Bristol University with a BSc Hons including an industrial placement at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, and then undertook a varied Business Graduate Trainee scheme with Sainsburys.  Having experienced and enjoyed HR  and recruitment first-hand, I then pursued a career specialising in recruitment, working for high profile, market leading recruitment businesses, initially specialising in marketing and then progressing to mid level to senior HR recruitment.

Did you know?

Away from the office, I relish family life and friends; enjoying life with my kids, running (slowly) and appreciating fine wines (a little too well).

Heading up the Manchester office here at Adam across Marketing and Digital, managing and training a team of exceptional recruiters.

My experience in recruitment

I have been with Adam since its inception, working across multiple sectors and skill sets, originally building the temporary offering here at Adam from scratch. Now with over 10 + year’s experience in recruitment, I utilise my experience to coach and manage the team here at Adam in Manchester. Also assisting with the growth of our client base and management of multiple accounts across Adam.

My specialisms

Marketing, Digital

Finishing a product design and technology degree I fell into teaching Art/Design and PE, which I loved but always strived for a career in business.

I worked at a large corporate recruitment firm for a number of years with Richard and Leon; they both then gave me the opportunity to join Adam, where we are now free to develop and become a valued partner to our clients and inspire each other to achieve our visions.

Did you know?

Out of hours I love sport; a slightly random and eclectic mix of Golf, snowboarding, cycling, triathlons, Mixed Martial Arts were I am a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. I enjoy pushing myself through physical challenges and raising money for charity, for example, cycling the length of Britain (Lands End to Jon O’Groats), cycling from London to Paris, Man vs Mountain a marathon up Snowdon.

A slightly random fact, my first job in my early teens involved juggling and uni-cycling at events and festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival, now occasionally getting dragged into juggling and blowing up animal balloons at friends kids birthdays and christenings.
