8 Steps to a better lifestyle

Back to Blogs

If good is the enemy of great, then great is the downright killer of amazing. People living a great life have something to lose and hate to put themselves at risk for failure. But even people who have tons of wonderful things happening in their lives can enhance them just a little more.

Sometimes taking it up a notch just requires a little more awareness about the opportunities being missed. In that spirit, here are 8 of those simple life improvements you might not have noticed. Oh, and for those of you who haven’t yet reached a great life, no worries, these tips will help you step it up as well.

1. Stop comparing yourself to others.

Living in the “Age of the Internet” makes it easy to compare yourself to others as you peruse various profiles and pictures. All that energy spent on how others are achieving detracts from your own amazing journey. Either support their efforts or join in the fun. The only one leaving you behind is you.

2. Simplify.

Successful lives can also be busy lives. Often the missing component for an amazing life is available time and resources. If your life is so busy managing stuff that you can’t do the things you want, get rid of the stuff and reduce the load. The greatest joy comes from doing what you want, when you want to do it, with whomever you want to do it with you.

3. Give.

Hey–you know all those great things coming your way? Imagine how it will feel toshare them with those who don’t have all those great things. Sure, giving money is great, but giving credible and valuable learning, experience, capability, and dreams elevates altruism to a whole new level.

4. Quit complaining.

Even the happiest of people still find reasons to grump here and there. For a truly amazing life, make a game out of turning every annoying situation into a wonderfulopportunity. Most often you just have to consider that half empty glass as half full.

5. Remove unnecessary debt.

Debt can be a great tool for getting ahead and growing a business. But it can also add extra weight and responsibility to life. Just because you can shoulder the weight doesn’t mean it doesn’t have an impact on your brain space and freedom. Make a plan today to get it all paid. Being debt-free will feel like shedding 50 unnecessary pounds.

6. See wonder in the world.

The intricacies of the world are vast and readily available to be explored. Some exist in a simple garden, and still others require great feats of engineering. Set out to be an explorer either in your own backyard or in locations around the world. This may be your only life on this planet. Take in all it has to offer.

8. Take responsibility for your own experience.

Some believe in destiny and others believe in fate. Regardless of either, your life will take shape through your choices and actions when faced with opportunities and challenges. Others can have negative impact only to the extent you let them. Create the most positive outcome for each and every day regardless of what it brings.
