Senior Mechanical Engineer - Manufacturing - North West or Oxfordshire

We are looking to recruit an exceptional Senior Mechanical Engineer for a global multi-billion dollar manufacturer based in the North West or Oxfordshire. You will be responsible for the mechanical developments in the areas of design, documentation, development, schedule and testing of new and existing products including input into the design process, product design, manufacturing, and subsequent product support . You will own overall mechanical designs demonstrating the ability to apply engineering principles to complex issues. You will be self motivated, self driven and have an endless passion for innovation as well as having experience working in a cross functional team with marketing, manufacturing, electrical engineering, software engineering. You will ensure designs produced by you and and other technical members of the team are cost effective and meet the overall product specifications established and meet project goals such as timeline attainment and project budget. Experience of managing external design agencies and the ability to take an overview of the project and own it from an engineering perspective is key.

Key responsibilities
*Ensure quality is built into designs and driven through product development
*Carry out / oversee prototyping in order to facilitate a "fail fast" approach & perform statistical analysis for manufacturability
*Participate in other aspects of the product development such as: Solving manufacturing issues, product performance, conformance, repair issues, product improvements, and value engineering
*To continuously identify how to add value to live projects / ideation process and manage & prioritise own work load.
*Work in close support of the marketing department in the analysis of customer needs and in the development of product specifications.
*Work with the program/project lead in the building of a cohesive project team as required and lead the mechanical implementation
*Lead in efficiency improvements in product development cycle time to reduce time to market
*Support in the implementation of the architecture tools and process to maximize the efficiency of the team.
*Initiate make or buy decisions in all engineering development programs
*Continually cultivate innovation and personally contribute to product ideas pipeline

The successful candidate will have
●A Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
●Minimum of 8 years' experience as a mechanical engineer in industry
●Demonstratble success in product development.
●Ability to influence and lead others.
●Skilled in CAD 2D/3D modelling skills (3D:SOLIDWORKS), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance,Manufacturing fabrication processes, FEA and DFM

●Knowledge of Manufacturing process for injection moulding, gear design, machining, sheet metal and assembly highly beneficial
