About the Role

HR Business Partner – Greater Manchester – 12 month fixed term contract – upto £80,000 plus benefits

Predominantly site based, with a little flexibility

Are you an experienced HR Business Partner with a proven track record of working within heavily unionised environments? Are you energised by complex change agendas and want to make a real impact in a large operational workforce?

What you’ll be doing:

  • Acting as a true strategic partner to senior leaders across a large operational workforce.
  • Leading and influencing in a complex, unionised setting
  • Supporting the delivery of a significant change programme
  • Building credible, collaborative relationships with unions and internal stakeholders alike.
  • Providing pragmatic, people-focused solutions that balance business needs and employee wellbeing
  • Coaching and challenging leaders to drive a high-performance, values-led culture

What we’re looking for:

  • A commercially savvy HR Business Partner who has worked in heavily unionised environments — this is non-negotiable
  • Strong experience in leading and supporting large scale change programmes
  • A confident communicator who can hold their own at the leadership table and with trade union representatives
  • Deep understanding of UK employment law, ER frameworks, and best practice HR delivery
  • Someone calm under pressure, with the resilience and diplomacy to navigate complexity

Someone who gets that transformation is just as much about communication and mindset as it is about process. If you’ve got the credibility, the comms agility, and the HR expertise to operate at pace, keep reading.   In this role, you’ll: Act as a true partner to Commercial and Corporate functions bringing insight, challenge, and support. Use data, empathy, and strategy to elevate performance and culture. Be a driving force for change—whether that’s improving leadership capability, shaping reward, embedding new ways of working, or designing org structures. Operate with commercial savvy, making sure People initiatives deliver real business impact. Collaborate with a passionate People Team to create scalable, progressive solutions across the employee lifecycle.   This role is for you if you: Bring gravitas and presence—people naturally trust you and look to you for guidance. Know how to flex your communication style—you can talk data and strategy with senior leaders and switch seamlessly to inspire frontline teams.
