About the Role
PPC Managers, otherwise known as Paid Search Managers, are responsible for implementing PPC media strategies for the business they work for, or the clients they look after. PPC Managers are employed for their ability to understand the business goals of the campaigns and manage them with that in mind.
PPC Managers manage and review Google Ads, Yahoo, Bing and other similar PPC accounts on a daily basis. They do so, generally, for a wide range of different clients. This means the business goals differ quite substantially and a strong understanding of this is needed. General responsibilities include:
Perform daily management tasks on PPC Accounts, via the industry leading platforms including Google Ads, Yahoo and Bing
Maintain and monitor keyword bids, impressions, clicks and ad performance
Work with stakeholders to generate seed keyword lists, and then develop subsequent thorough keyword lists
Explore new keyword opportunities and make recommendations to clients based on the findings, feedback can also include campaign targeting and demographics
Generate weekly and monthly client reporting for all major KPI and metrics – tracking goals and revenue to provide statistical insight
Monitor analytics and point out areas of importance when they may arise
Expected Skills & Qualifications
Candidates should express an enthusiasm for data management, grounded by strong previous experience with managing pay-per-click campaigns. PPC Managers must be completely versed in Google Analytics, Google AdWords and Bing Ads. Exemplary people skills will help set candidates apart, as with that comes the ability to efficiently communicate with and coordinate both clients and team members.
There are a number of core skills required for this role:
Passion for Search marketing and pay-per-click-practices
Google Ads Certifications are an industry standard representation of PPC capabilities
Particular attention to detail
Competent working under a deadline driven atmosphere
Commitment to personal development and the acquisition of new skills
Recorded success of past PPC campaigns, preferably a portfolio
Budget management skills
The average salary for a PPC Manager in the United Kingdom is currently around £24,500 per year. The beginning salary currently averages at around £17,000 PPC Executives. More experienced candidates, or those who have been in the position for a number of years, can hope to earn upwards of £40,000 per year if they are handling big accounts with high expenditure. Following on from a successful stint as a PPC Manager, candidates may progress into senior PPC Management roles that see them coordinate a team of PPC Executives.
