Job Title: Principal Experience Designer
Team: Design
Reports to: Design Director

The Role

As the Agency has grown, the challenges their clients are asking them to take on are becoming more fundamental, more strategic, and more vital than ever to the success of their organisations.
The role design plays in this, is constantly evolving. As Principal Experience Designer, you will
work closely with clients to deliver excellent work, putting users at the centre of the process
while developing both client and team capabilities.
*As a Principal, you'll be leading an incredible team of talented and diverse designers to deliver transformative and impactful products for their clients and partners.
*You will have autonomy to shape the design team with full backing in the growth and development of yourself, the team and the design practise.
*You will be a member of the leadership team, helping to lead the studio both operationally and strategically.
*You will be looking after a great team of designers, mentoring them and coaching them to develop in their careers
*You will have a focus on quality, setting the benchmark for creativity and best practices, you'll help steer designers to execute in a fast-moving, impact-driven environment.
*You will have comfort working in early stage uncertain projects and using your human centered tool kits such as research, prototyping & testing to get to an articulated product solution concept.
*You will also be an ambassador for the agency's principles both internally and externally and -with a natural curiosity and passion for the success of their partners.
*You will be hands-on with the work, coaching your team and the client on a day to day basis to ensure they deliver projects meet their clients and customers expectations.


As a Principal, you will have experience in the following practical skills:

User Experience Design: A deep expertise in user experience and design, with experience in
implementing and developing frameworks/tools/programmes that influence client strategy
and design a service/product that has been hugely successful in the market

Presentation & Storytelling: You can engage clients, regardless of their position, with a
narrative that wins them over. You can lead a room, command attention and convert complex information to relevant format the audience understands.

Implementing Change: You are able to educate clients on effective processes and ways of
working as part of a collaborative / change process.

Research: You are able to create a bespoke research plan that delivers strategic insight and
data, you can facilitate all research activities and coach others to do so. You can share and
validate learnings to cross-disciplinary teams & clients identifying actionable insights mapped to Key Performance Metrics and Business strategy

Project leadership - You are able to work with a cross functional team of engineers, clients,
delivery to input and sometimes lead the planning and estimating of both small and large
projects. Where necessary you can plan projects taking into account resource allocation across teams. Provide product direction, prioritisation and ensure focus and effort is spent on the most valuable work.

As a Principal, you will have experience in the following people skills:

Client partnership: You can provide counsel to senior clients that have a positive impact on
their business. You can establish career partnerships with key clients that transcends job
descriptions and KPI's and accelerates their mutual successes.

Leadership & Management: Capable of managing multiple teams across different groups,
products or projects. You are able to coach individuals and teams to push beyond their comfort zone and deliver user centered experiences that exceed client expectations.

Developing Others: You have experience in assessing, refining and supporting the strengths
and goals of your team. You have experience in laying the groundwork for personal growth,
including milestones, and developing client focussed, delivery driven mindset.

Giving Feedback: You have experience in teaching teams how to give feedback in more
effective ways. Candid and honest, but fair. Not afraid to speak truth to power and trusted to give an honest opinion.
