The successful candidate will lead BIMA and enjoy the backing of some of the digital industry's biggest names. The incumbent of this role will work closely with BIMA's President and Governance Team to shape and deliver the organisation's strategy, and will benefit from significant support from BIMA Council members. This role includes management responsibility for the internal BIMA team (4 staff members and 3 Community Leads).

The role is fulltime and will include evening work attending events and may include UK or international travel. The position reports to the BIMA President.

Scope

BIMA's Managing Director is responsible for the growth and operational leadership of the organisation. It's an exciting time to take up the reins. BIMA has been successfully building its community over the last few years and has big plans to continue that growth trajectory going forwards. The incoming MD, with the support of a fantastic team, will be responsible for driving that growth, as well as continuing to evolve and strengthen the organisation's vision and mission.

Key activities & responsibilities

Acting as a strong advocate and focal point for BIMA in the industry
Strategic planning in association with the BIMA President and Central Council, and ownership for operational decision-making, planning and delivery
Proactively driving the on-going vision of the organisation, leading by example and encouraging an entrepreneurial spirit within the team
Spearheading financial growth and building organisational reserves and stability
Commercial and budgetary responsibility, ensuring business profitability, managing reporting and forecasting processes
Overseeing BIMA's commercial objectives to ensure opportunities for new business are developed, pursued and converted
Responsibility for a programme of events, content and services to drive value to members
Driving membership benefit and broadening engagement from members, with a particular focus on building BIMA brand members
Navigating and staying a step ahead of an evolving industry

Skills & experience

Director-level experience is desirable, and experience in successfully leading teams is essential
Thorough understanding of the digital industry in the UK is desirable but not essential, as is prior experience in or knowledge of a membership organisation
Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to grasp key industry influences and apply this thinking to develop services that will support BIMA's membership
Ability to keep moving parts in play with numerous stakeholders, whilst staying focused on big picture goals
Exceptional relationship builder with the ability to operate at a senior and strategic level with key stakeholders and help resolve issues smoothly and effectively
Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt the tone and style as appropriate to the audience
Internal communications skills suited to aligning teams and creating a joined-up business
Adept problem solving skills, with the ability to understand issues and offer solutions
Naturally outgoing, charismatic, a confident public speaker
Commercial focus and entrepreneurial drive
Excellent people manager with an ability to inspire, motivate, mentor and build commitment
Self-starter who is confident in their own abilities and decision making
