Job description

Head of HR - Lancashire (hybrid) - c£55k - £60k - Permanent

Who is the business?

An entrepreneurial business with a breadth of service offerings. They are currently in growth mode having spent the last few years establishing themselves and their proposition and now with a solid formula for success they are looking to build for the future. They operate in a number of sectors, however right now are looking for someone to support the growth of a specific part of the portfolio, with future opportunities as the whole group evolves.

What is the role?

They are looking to recruit a Head of HR who can develop a commercial, value add HR function. They have a small team in place currently and this is about pulling together all the strands of the people strategy and taking it forward. A truly generalist role, key priorities will be;

  • Interrogating their systems and processes to review current state, then moving onto to making improvements where necessary
  • Recruitment and retention, including their EVP and employer branding particularly around social media and their web pages. There are plenty of positive things about the business in terms of its culture and benefits which are just not shouted about enough.
  • Management skills. They have a number of new managers in the business and this role will have a strong focus on ensuring they have the tools, knowledge and support to lead their teams
  • Business growth. As they look to open new sites you will ensure there is a blueprint in place from a people perspective

You will lead the HR team, and form part of the Management Team reporting into the MD. You will be the face of HR in the organisation, and will ensure the business receives an effective, pragmatic and supportive HR service.

Who are we looking for?

A true HR generalist. Someone who is used to operating at pace in a volume environment, ideally from a growth perspective. Experience in an SME would be advantageous, and a willingness to roll your sleeves up and really get stuck in to get under the skin of the business. Some team leadership experience would also be a benefit. Sector wise we are open minded, but we think it will particularly suit someone coming from a retail, hospitality, care or education environment given the pace and nature of business.

The role is based in Lancashire and it's expected that you will be onsite at least 3 days per week. Salary is upto £60k plus bens.
