Job description

The Communication Director's role is to apply strategic thinking to both clients and agency. The role involves working with the Account Directors to develop integrated PR, marketing and communications strategies for clients and managing in house and freelance copywriters to deliver high quality content and participating in pitching for new business opportunities. Looking out for the agency.

Although primary responsibility is to the agency, it is important to adopt the position of the 'client inside' representing the best interests of the individual client and their business in the media relations, marketing, communications and project
management processes.

Key responsibilities
- Actively managing, maintaining and developing relationships with clients
- Developing PR and content strategies and plans for clients
- Working closely with the Account Directors to ensure PR, media and content strategy is integrated with ongoing marketing and creative projects for clients
- Identifying organic growth opportunities and actively seeking new business
- Contributing to the development of new business initiatives

Day to day responsibilities
- Ensuring that the client experience is a good one for both parties
- Lead strategy development for all client activities which requires both internal and external communications advice and
counsel to mitigate reputational risks.
- Provide communications counsel to senior stakeholders within client businesses and assisting them with any issues which
may impact on their reputation externally as well as internally
- Review and adapt content for a range of mediums, including press releases, articles, podcasts, video scripts etc
- Defining comprehensive briefs for new projects with the client and communicating these to the team
- Providing relevant information for billing each month (fees and outside costs)
- Providing input to the writing of cost estimates/proposals, timing plans, contact reports, status reports etc, to meet
deadlines for the various project and campaign elements
- Contributing to the production of case studies on project completion and where possible to gather effective data / client
testimonials to demonstrate the effectiveness of the work
- Networking and staying in touch with existing, lapsed and potential clients
- Attending client meetings, process minutes of meetings if required, follow up with written proposals etc

Experience
The ideal candidate will:
- be a team player and will be happy to support and mentor more junior members of the team
- be ambitious and want to become an equity partner in the business
- be flexible and adaptable to change, able to contribute in an entrepreneurial environment
- have good experience in a similar role within the fast-paced environment
- have experience in Financial and/or Professional Services PR and media relations, commercial insurance sector helpful
- have a proven track record of developing thought leadership and content campaigns
- be confident in providing strategic counsel for C-Suite and dealing with crisis comms
