Job description

We're looking for a Senior Formulation Scientist for our client based near Leeds, to take responsibility for the day to day running of projects. To help in the project management of new product development and continuous improvement of existing products in accordance with quality and regulatory guidelines. This position is ideal for a skilled Formulator with proven experience in product development.

THE ROLE

-Accurate recording & reporting of Scientific data from process experimentation with autonomy.
-Assist /supervise the experimentation, interpretation of data and reporting of results to quality standards.
-To plan and execute formulation product development as per marketing brief reporting regularly to Development Management on planned progress.
-To support all investigations on new and existing products/raw materials with a view to creating and resolving formulation issues in a precise and timely manner.
-To co-ordinate / prepare samples of informal stability studies and /or analysis, completing associated paperwork.
-To maintain accurate and informative documentation in an accurate and neat manner throughout project progress.
-Communicate effectively with other departments (internal) and suppliers (external).
-To prepare and carry out general laboratory duties.
-To manage and perform all project related duties in accordance with project timelines.
-To train and develop scientist and technicians within the department.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Ensure all activities and working practices are in line with current up to date guidelines.
-Safe working practices and responsibility towards the environment is an integral part of all activities.
-To maintain all necessary documentation relevant to your tasks up to date and to the required Quality standards.
-Co-operate with Line manager and other personnel to ensure the efficient running of the Development department and to perform tasks outside your key tasks / objectives from time to time as requested by management.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

-Will hold a BSc (Hon) in Chemistry. BSc (Hon) in another scientific field may be considered.
-Other additional qualifications in formulation such as formulation diplomas will be appreciated.
-3-5 years proven experience in Formulation of ideally cosmetic products, medical devices and/or pharmaceutical products or relatable sector background.
-Knowledge of GLP/GMP quality requirements.
-Excellent communication skills.
-Experience working with external suppliers
-Basic Project management skills
-Ability to understand the commercial factors of FMCG.
