​Marketing Managers are responsible for promoting a service, product or brand and oversee all of a company’s marketing activity.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with external agencies to deliver marketing campaigns

  • Perform market research studies to gather brand data

  • Recruit and manage a team of assistants to execute campaign work

  • Develop strategic campaigns for business growth

  • Identify new business opportunities based on customer demand

  • Report on key performance metrics to senior management

  • Manage a marketing budget

Qualifications

Marketing Managers typically have a degree in Marketing, Advertising or similar. It is possible to gain equivalent industry experience by starting as a Marketing Assistant and learning on the job. You would usually need 5+ years industry experience for a Marketing Manager position.

Salary

The average salary in the UK for a Marketing Manager is £24,000 - £49,000 p.a. These roles often have a bonus or commission scheme in addition to a base salary.

Career Progression

Marketing Managers often go on to work at International level for large corporations, take on the role of Marketing Director or decide to work freelance as a Consultant for several brands simultaneously.
