​Head of Communications

The Head of Communications is responsibile for the planning and execution of all of a business' communications, both internal and external.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a brand voice and maintain integrity across all platforms and channels

  • Establish and execute a multi-channel communications strategy

  • Manage all brand communications

  • Media relations and networking

  • Creating relationships with influencers and community leaders

  • Lead the Communications team

  • Assist in the creation of content

  • Data recording, analysis and reporting

  • Oversee presence at industry events (conference, trade shows, etc)

  • Develop and manage the Communications budget

Expected Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Influencing skills

  • Previous team management experience and good leadership skills

  • Minimum 5 years in marketing, communications, or public relations

  • Impeccable copywriting and editing skills

  • Familiarity with relevent technology, e.g. Adobe

  • A degree in a related discipline is often desireable

Salary

The average UK annual salary for a Head of Communications is £64,000. This can rise to around £75,000 in London. A Head of Commications in the North of England can expect approx. £52,000 per year. Annual bonuses are common for the role, alongside other benefits. (Glassdoor, March 2022)
