Digital Account Manager
As a digital account manager, you will usually work for an organisation or agency although you may also work as a freelance consultant.
It is your role to balance the commercial objectives of your employer with the customer service it offers its existing and new clients to establish positive working relationships that are mutually beneficial and profitable to both parties.
Typical Responsibilities for the Digital Account Manager
As a digital account manager, your responsibilities may vary widely depending on the industry, scale and needs of your employer or client, however most will expect you to fulfil the following:
Relationship Building
As the digital account manager, your key responsibility is customer care. You will be required to develop strong working relationships with a variety of existing and potential clients and ensure that through the provision of excellent service, client accounts and their revenue streams are secured and experience growth.
Much of your success will rely on the work of departmental personnel specialising in digital design and development. Although you will be in a managerial role, you will need to build relationships and collaborate on development plans and any related technical or creative processes with those individuals, and contribute to the creation of a positive and productive work environment.
Communication
Initiating and fostering strong client relationships requires excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
You must be able to interpret the needs and preferences of your clients, help them understand their options, shape their digital plans, tackle difficult issues confidently, establish project budgets and set reasonable timescales and KPIs for achievement.
Putting those plans into action requires clear communication with specialists in digital development, design and marketing. You will need to co-ordinate their activities, allocate budgets and resources, ensure tasks are completed on schedule and provide feedback reports to your clients, departmental managers and business leaders on the progress of any projects.
Furthermore, you will need strong presentation skills and be able to contribute in client pitches, represent your organisation at industry events or conferences and write content for your company website.
Leadership
As a departmental leader and client manager you will be expected to possess a sound working knowledge of all the tools, technologies and resources necessary for a range of digital projects, understand their applications and costs and act as a knowledge leader for personnel in your organisation.
You must be a motivational leader who can inspire creative, collaborative work and encourage practices that enable individuals to generate and share ideas, test new concepts and be efficient and productive.
You may be required to participate in recruitment activities and facilitate training which capitalises on and enhances the skills of personnel in your department.
Digital Account Manager Salary Range
Depending on the requirements of your employer, your experience and the region you work in, as a digital account manager you can expect to earn a salary of £25k to £35k+, and enjoy various benefits and bonus packages.
What skills do you need to be a Digital Account Manager?

Relationship building
Project and budget management
KPI and ROI focus
