​Campaign Managers typically work with external agencies to plan and deliver marketing campaigns. They are also responsible for measuring and reporting on their success. Usually, this role sits as part of an in-house marketing team. They are considered ‘full-mix’ marketers, covering a broad range of campaign formats such as digital, direct mail, TV, print, exhibitions and even telemarketing.

Campaign Manager Responsibilities:

·       Come up with B2B and/or B2C campaigns to acquire new customers

·       Deliver campaigns to retain existing customers

·       Manage the implementation of all campaigns, including tracking & measuring their effectiveness

·       Work with internal teams and external agencies to ensure effective running of campaigns

·       Manage a marketing budget

·       Ensure the brand identity is consistently conveyed across all channels

·       Collect and analyse data to inform future campaigns

·       Keep on top of latest trends in marketing to identify new opportunities

Campaign Manager skills and qualifications:

·       Team work and people management skills.

·       Project management experience. Qualification in Agile is highly desirable.

·       Strong numerical skills.

·       Relevant degree such as Advertising and Marketing.

·       A Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification can help make you stand out.

·       Some employers will consider candidates who have learned the role on the job in a junior position who do not have a marketing qualification.

·       2 – 5 years’ experience in a relevant role is usually required for a Campaign Management position.

Campaign Manager career progression:

The most common next step for a Campaign Manager is to a Head of Marketing or Marketing Director role. Following from here could be a move to VP of Marketing in a larger business, or Chief Marketing Officer.

Campaign Manager Salary:

The average UK salary for a Campaign Manager is £30,172 per year. For a junior role, you can expect a starting salary of £20,000.More experienced marketers can demand salaries around £40-45,000 per year. This role often has a performance-related bonus as part of the package, meaning you could take home anywhere from a few hundred pounds to £4,000 on top of your basic.
