About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Sales and Business Development Manager to assume leadership of our client’s sales team and foster commercial success through strategic business development and proactive sales management. This role involves securing new business, managing key accounts, nurturing existing relationships, and overseeing sales operations within a dynamic, customer-centric organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage key accounts for top-tier customers, ensuring consistent service and strategic alignment.
- Build lasting client partnerships by understanding their evolving needs and delivering bespoke solutions.
- Lead, mentor, and support the Sales team, fostering development through regular coaching and guidance.
- Set sales targets, track performance, and report against agreed KPIs.
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with both new and existing key customers.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities in priority sectors aligned with the overall sales strategy.
- Oversee and manage the sales pipeline to ensure consistent progress and conversion.
- Follow up on inbound leads to unlock potential opportunities.
- Attend trade exhibitions and customer visits to secure new contracts and reinforce existing relationships.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to bring commercially viable opportunities to market.
- Prepare quotations and tailor solutions that meet client requirements while protecting margin expectations.
- Regularly review pricing structures and negotiate effectively to optimise profitability.
- Monitor customer satisfaction, account performance, and retention rates.
- Ensure internal teams deliver on agreed service levels and consistently meet customer expectations.
- Produce comprehensive monthly sales reports.
- Achieve continuous year-on-year margin improvement, ensuring all margins meet or exceed minimum targets.
- Actively contribute to overall business performance and strategic direction as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Key Skills
- Excellent relationship-building abilities with both internal teams and external clients.
- Demonstrated track record of spotting opportunities and consistently delivering results.
- Confident working across both Business Development and Account Management functions.
- 3–5+ years' experience in business development, sales, or account management, ideally within an SME or high-growth setting.
- Manufacturing experience highly beneficial, within industries such as packaging, printing, food or automotive
- Proven success in securing new business and expanding existing customer relationships.
- Experience of leading, managing, and developing a Sales team.
