Marketing Director

Role Overview

To be part of the Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in influencing the strategic direction of the business.

The Marketing Director will be responsible for the generation of revenue through the development and execution of a fully integrated marketing strategy that looks to grow awareness of the brand, increase understanding of our value propositions and the Studio of Possibilities, drives leads’ and conversion rates, and supports the growth and retention of revenue from our existing clients.

To support this, you will need to work closely with the Business Development and Strategy & Insights teams, our Client Services Director, as well as the wider group.
You will also be managing a team of 3-4 to support in the execution of the marketing plans and conversion of new leads, alongside collaborations with our relevant specialist partners.

Key Responsibilities

Insight & Analytics – deliver insight and analytics into our market, consumer trends, the competition and our own commercial performance to develop business priorities and areas of focus to inform the marketing strategy.

Commercial Strategy – identify where the business opportunities (revenue growth, profitability) exist and, working with the FD, develop and enhance the commercial strategy to realise those opportunities.

Value Proposition Development – manage the ongoing assessment and development of the propositions to ensure our clients understand the value we can bring to their business.

Brand Management – ongoing development of the brand to ensure continued differentiation and leadership in our market, and the guardianship of the brand across the business.

Content Generation – build a content strategy to deliver stand out content to be used across online and offline platforms that drives client engagement and conversion, and brand awareness. Content should include the full breadth of formats from film, podcasts, webinars, viewpoints, case studies etc.

Digital Marketing – build and execute the digital marketing strategy (in conjunction with the PR & Marcoms Manager) to include SEO, PPC and email marketing, alongside the ongoing development and optimisation of the website and our social media channels.

New Business Pipeline – responsible for overseeing the incoming pipeline, including qualifying opportunities/casting in conjunction with the Business Development Director. Against assigned pitches manage the process, RFP’s, RFI’s responses and writing proposals to improve strike rates and conversion; working fast and smart, to tight deadlines, bringing together the most appropriate team to deliver best-in-class work.
Outbound Lead Generation – in line with the agreed marketing and new business strategy ensure the timely and successful implementation, measurement and reporting of all outbound activity to drive continuous and meaningful lead generation.

PR & Events – build and execute the PR and Events strategy (in conjunction with the PR & Marcoms Manager) that allows us to reach and convert our key target audiences.
Database Marketing – manage and enhance the current Marketing database to support and improve the effectiveness of our targeted campaigns.
Marketing Tools & Systems – be aware of new developments within the area of marketing software and regularly review capability to ensure we are using the most effective and efficient tools to meet our goals.

Team Management – Inspire and coach a team of 4 to effectively deliver the Marketing and New Business strategy, as well as manage their appraisals, the development of their PDPs and, their pay reviews.

Agency Management – manage agency partners i.e. digital, to ensure we are getting value for money, and continue to assess our business requirements to support us in meeting those requirements.

Budget & KPI Management – Set the marketing budget and goals for the year, and monitor spend and performance throughout the year to ensure our goals are achieved.
Key Skills

Leadership and Influencing Skills – you will possess excellent leadership skills, with an ability to inspire those around you, including clients and the team. You need to be a clear thinker and excellent communicator who can work collaboratively and effectively across the studio to bring our vision alive.

Relationship Building Skills – you will demonstrate superb relationship building skills with an existing network that you can draw upon, and the ability to develop and nurture new strategic relationships. The role will involve a flair and passion for networking and representing the company externally.

Strong Storyteller / Creatively Minded – you will be a creative thinker and visionary who is able to translate and bring to life the whole Studios of Possibilities positioning, as well as spot trends and areas of innovation and translate them into marketing strategies or activities.

Management Skills – you will oversee the marketing and business development team and provide guidance day-to-day. You will be responsible for their performance, coaching, mentoring and development. You will recommend future recruitment, promotion, salary reviews, and all team related decisions.

Analytical Skills – the role calls for continual analysis of market trends, opportunities and the
landscape of the industry / sectors. Working with the Strategy & Insights team and external
resources to drill down into relevant data, to create a robust and effective strategy.

In addition, you have the following attributes:

Proven track record of success in relevant marketing and new business roles (8-10 years).
Confident, driven and dynamic leader.
An innate ability to solve not ‘sell’ with a human touch.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot original opportunities.
Strong organisational skills, balancing /juggling multiple requirements at any one time.
Relevant agency experience essential.
