About the Role
Human Resources Director
Private equity-backed, multi-site manufacturing business
Cheshire | Travel to other sites
This is not a role to maintain the status quo.
We are leading the search for a Human Resources Director to join the Executive Team of a specialist manufacturing business at a pivotal point in its evolution.
The organisation has a strong heritage, deep technical expertise and an established position in a niche market. Now operating as an independent, private equity-backed business, it is entering its next phase of growth, investment and transformation.
The opportunity is to build the people agenda that will enable that ambition.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Human Resources Director will be a central member of the Executive Team and a key contributor to the organisation’s growth and value-creation plans. You will shape the workforce, leadership capability, culture and organisational infrastructure required to support a more agile, accountable and high-performing business.
This is a broad, influential mandate. You will have the opportunity to create meaningful change across the organisation, rather than inherit a fixed people strategy and simply deliver it.
Your remit will include:
- Defining and delivering a commercially focused People Strategy aligned with the business plan
- Advising and challenging the CEO and Executive Team on organisation, leadership and workforce decisions
- Building stronger succession pipelines and developing future leadership capability
- Creating greater clarity, accountability and consistency across a complex multi-site operation
- Strengthening organisational design and workforce planning to support growth
- Developing a high-performance culture rooted in collaboration, safety and continuous improvement
- Using people data and insight to improve decision-making and business performance
- Ensuring HR systems, processes and structures are fit for the organisation’s next stage
- Leading and developing the HR team to operate as credible, commercial business partners
- Maintaining high standards of governance and compliance
The successful candidate will be an experienced HR Director, People Director or senior HR leader who understands the realities of operational leadership.
You will have built your career within manufacturing. You will have led change across multi-site operations and be comfortable working in both unionised and non-unionised environments.
More importantly, you will bring the judgement and presence expected of an Executive Team leader.
You will know how to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery. You will be prepared to challenge established thinking, make difficult decisions and remain visible and connected across the workforce.
Experience within a private equity-backed, transformation or growth environment would be particularly valuable, as would a track record of executive succession planning, organisational development and building leadership pipelines.
This is an opportunity to:
- Join the Executive Team at a defining point in the organisation’s journey
- Influence business strategy, not simply respond to it
- Build a people function and agenda capable of supporting significant growth
- Shape culture, leadership and performance across the entire organisation
- Make a visible and lasting impact
The role is based in Cheshire, with a minimum expectation of three days per week on site and regular UK travel.
The executive package includes:
- Competitive base salary depending on experience, plus a generous benefits package
Equity, diversity, and inclusion are integral to everything that we do. We are committed to these values and they are central to our mission. We encourage applications from all backgrounds and communities, and we are more than happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments that you may require.
