What is the role?
A Head of HR position, this role will report into the HR Director, and lead the HR team day to day. As they move towards the next phase of growth and evolution, the Head of HR will, together with the HRD, help build the HR plan for the next few years, focusing on robust service delivery, data-driven decision making and building capability across the organisation, including within the HR team.
Responsibilities are expected to include:
- Lead the HR team, inclusive of Recruitment, Partnering, Payroll and Reward, delivering a professional, responsive service for employees
- Champion culture and inclusion, shaping EDI strategy and the employer brand, with an ambition to be a top employer of choice
- Build strong stakeholder relationships, internally and externally, ensuring services flex to meet business needs
- Oversee payroll delivery and operational safeguards, ensuring accurate, timely monthly payroll and strong service standards
- Own financial performance for the function, managing budgets, forecasting, and driving cost-effective outcomes
- Use data and insight to develop meaningful people metrics and inform strategic decisions
- Drive growth and change, contributing to the wider people strategy, leading key projects, and managing organisational change programmes
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance, including sector-specific standards, employment law, and effective handling of employee relations cases
Who are we looking for?
A true HR generalist with experience of leading and developing multi-functional HR teams. You will know what great looks like, and be able to instil confidence through great leadership that you can support a HR function to get there. You will be able to challenge and present new ideas, while empowering teams to think creatively and find solutions. While a generalist, you will understand how to manage specialisms such as Recruitment and Payroll (from an oversight perspective), knowing how they feed into the wider HR team to create the overall employee experience.
You will have worked closely with senior leaders and stakeholders extensively, and have proven experience of carrying out a Head of HR / Senior HR role which includes both strategic and operational experience. In addition to this, non-negotiables include strong employment law knowledge, experience of job evaluation, and holding CIPD Level 7.
What's on offer?
A salary of up to £75,000 plus bens. They work on a predominantly remote basis, however this candidate must be North West-based due to the requirement to travel to offices and locations in the region a couple of times a month.
It's a 35-hour working week, and you can choose to work these hours on a 9-day fortnight or 4.5-day week basis.
