Paid Search Manager
About the Role
As a PPC manager you will usually work for an organisation or agency though may work independently as a freelance consultant.
It is your role to assist in the development of an organisational PPC strategy, establish KPIs for web traffic and sales, optimise budgets to maximise ROI and manage the day-to-day activities of a team of PPC executives tasked with implementing your campaign plans.
Typical Responsibilities for the Paid Search (PPC) Manager
Your responsibilities as a PPC manager will vary, but most employers or clients will expect you undertake the following:
Leadership
It is your responsibility to ensure that the commercial objectives of your employer or client are understood and that the strategic PPC campaign plans you devise to meet or exceed them are developed, reviewed and executed within planned budgets and timescales.
As such, you will need to be a knowledgeable and effective leader who possesses an in-depth understanding of keywords, ad creation and placement, bid management and analytics tools and use your skills to inform, motivate and delegate workloads to the personnel under your supervision.
You may be involved in the recruitment process and will be tasked with attracting, retaining and supporting the professional development of a team of PPC executives.
Project Management
Although you will hold a managerial position, you must be a team player who can collaborate with colleagues in SEO, design, social and content as well as other internal and external parties in finance, supply and distribution to develop PPC campaigns that fulfil the business goals of your employer or client.
You may be expected to work on one, or several projects at any one time and will need to be an organised, analytical and effective decision maker who can research the market, identify opportunities and act quickly in order to optimise PPC campaign performance and ROI.
Reporting
You will be a skilled written and verbal communicator who can produce clear, targeted campaign plans and directives for the personnel tasked with putting them into action, and detailed, timely progress reports for senior management.
Furthermore, you may need to participate in client pitches, represent your employer or client at industry events and conferences, and contribute regular content which promotes your PPC services across social media channels.
Salary Range
Depending on your experience, levels of responsibility and the location you work in, as a PPC manager you can expect to earn £18k to £36k+, and enjoy various benefits and bonus packages.

Building Your Career in Manchester
Ian, Brown, Lead singer of the Stone Roses and Manchester Icon once said, “Manchester’s got everything except a beach.” That may be true, and although it does have a fair bit of drizzle, don’t let that put you off. Manchester is thriving and is a becoming a business powerhouse, which unsurprisingly is creating vast opportunities for those looking to develop their careers.
Working in Manchester
A hub for banking, insurance, fashion, property, construction, retail and hospitality, a thriving tech scene and some of the most creative and exciting agencies in the UK, means job opportunities are in abundance at all levels. Companies like Google, Amazon, Freshfields, LLP, and Microsoft have all opened offices in the city, in addition to the arrival of the BBC at Media City. This continual arrival of big businesses has brought a wealth of job opportunities, establishing it as an economic powerhouse. You can see the effect on the city’s skyline with more property being constructed than anywhere else in Europe.
Living in Manchester
From a lifestyle point of view, Manchester has a lot to offer. It’s big enough to provide amazing job opportunities and still small enough for you to feel part of the community. You can bump into someone you know when walking across the city. Manchester has a vibrant culture, an affordable living cost and a good dose of edginess along with an amazing bar scene, restaurants to die for and excellent shopping. If live music is your scene, you’ll find something exciting any night of the week. Prefer the countryside? You’re just a stone throw from some of the UK’s most beautiful locations including Derbyshire, the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and North Wales. All of which are within an hour or two’s drive meaning you’re spoilt for choice. Plus, it’s at least 30% cheaper than living in London with just as many opportunities on your doorstep.
