Social recruitment is not just searching Facebook, LinkedIn and
Twitter for your perfect candidates. The social aspect of
recruitment is using those people to find connections, reaching
potential candidates or connections efficiently using social media.
Not all people are comfortable tweeting (me included), so you will
need to go to events and 'pimp' yourself out, whether you are a
candidate or recruiter. The best way to reach out to those
candidates is via trade shows and networking events related to them
and their specialities. Adam
Recruitment is connected to a marketing specific event, through
Only Marketing Jobs (Linkup), which is a great networking event
for specialists in Marketing.
This event and all the events I have attended recently of
course, are strongly linked to social media, however the social
(face to face) aspect of this event can sometimes be more
fruitful. The key is... for both to be combined. The event
hadn't even started and there was a long list of people
tweeting about how they will arrive, what they will be wearing, how
they will be finding people, connecting with each other and
even comments on the food and nibbles during the event! Slightly
rudeā¦
A Few tips: Find the list of people attending the event, from
the organisers or from the email lists that are sent out. Search
for their LinkedIn profiles, invite them to connect and do mention
you would like their opinion on something (that is relevant to each
of them). Ask for a few minutes with them at the event
tonight. Make sure they have a lot to say about it. The result -
you get a room full of people who can't wait to talk to you!
And finally... Make sure your profile photo is recent, could be
slightly embarrassing as I found with one particular candidate. (Movember style). The more recent
the photo, the easier it is for people to recognise and find
you at a crowded event.
